COMPOSER ANNE-MARIE KEANE ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM LAYERS OF A WOMAN INSPIRED BY HER FIRST BALLET

Los Angeles, Nov 28: Composer and classically trained pianist Anne-Marie Keane will release her highly anticipated new album, Layers of a Woman, on December 12, 2025, available worldwide at midnight in all respective time zones. The project expands upon music Keane originally composed for her debut ballet, Untamed Woman, in collaboration with AVID Dance and choreographer Ursula Verduzco.

The eight-track album features four original compositions from the ballet alongside two newly written pieces and two extended tracks, expanding upon  the emotional arc of the original score. Performed by the all-female Ensemble Mycelium comprising piano, cello, and viola Layers of a Woman captures the intimate and collective experience of femininity through sound. Each composition reveals a different facet of womanhood, portraying women as loving, breathing, layered beings through instrumental storytelling.

"The opportunity to work closely with the dancers and choreographer, Ursula Verduzco, has been an incredible experience," said Anne-Marie. "Layers of a Woman is inspired by Ursula's ballet and the story of her life, which is one that I connected with and knew others would too. Women live complex, multi-layered lives which create a range of emotions that, when brought together, create a complete woman.  I love writing music to bring stories like Ursula's to life and to honor the women who have touched my life." 

Keane's ballet score was originally commissioned by AVID Dance Company, where she serves as Resident Composer. Untamed Woman, choreographed by Verduzco and performed throughout AVID's 2024 season, captivated audiences with its emotional choreography and alluring music.  The ballet continues to be performed as part of AVID's repertoire in 2025 and 2026.

Ensemble Mycelium, founded in 2022 by cellist Molly von Gutzeit, is a chamber music collective devoted to performing new and existing works while engaging audiences through multidisciplinary collaboration. The ensemble has premiered numerous original compositions and maintains ongoing partnerships with Keane and AVID Dance.
