Mumbai, 26 October 2026: Diwali is India’s biggest festival, a time when homes, streets and cities glow with light, and when people gather to celebrate together. This year, Jio World Plaza wants its guests to do more than watch the festival go by. It wants them to step inside it.
The result is A Thousand Reflections, an immersive festive experience built around Thikri, the Rajasthani art of mirror inlay, where countless tiny fragments of glass are set by hand to form intricate patterns that shimmer with every flicker of light.
Diwali is a celebration of light, and Thikri is an art form made of it. Every mirrored fragment catches and scatters light, so a single lamp becomes a thousand glimmers. Thikri also carries a quieter idea that sits close to the spirit of the festival: many small pieces, each ordinary alone, come together to create something extraordinary. That is what Diwali is about: light, hope and togetherness. By reimagining this centuries-old craft on a larger-than-life scale, Jio World Plaza celebrates India’s artistic heritage and gives it a contemporary, immersive form for a new generation.
The installation tells its story in mirrors. Fragments of glass shatter, then reassemble into the delicate patterns of Thikri, and finally burst into celebration. It is a journey from fragments to wholeness, and from stillness to festivity.
That journey begins at the door. The entrance gates, unveiled on 11 October at Gates 6 and 12, have been transformed into monumental Thikri façades. Crimson panels framed in gold and warm light are set with mosaics of mirrored glass. Within ornate arches, peacocks and blooming lotuses appear in shimmering detail, welcoming visitors with a first glimpse of the artistry within.
Inside, handcrafted installations of peacocks and lotuses, two of India’s most beloved festive symbols and both deeply woven into traditional Indian art, stand in glowing, arched frames. Created exclusively for Jio World Plaza, each piece was handmade by artisans in Udaipur, with every mirrored fragment placed by hand.
The centrepiece is the immersive Thikri tunnel, a complete walkthrough experience. As visitors move through it, the art comes alive around them. Peacocks unfurl their plumes across the walls, florals bloom overhead, and reflections ripple across the floor, so that every step reveals a new pattern. Here, a traditional craft meets contemporary design and immersive technology, making Thikri more engaging, accessible and real for visitors of every generation. Sustainability was an integral consideration in the creation of every element.
The journey extends across the Plaza with a showcase of Indian craft traditions, including Banjara embroidery, terracotta, lacquer work and Ettikopaka woodcraft. These sit alongside the finest brands from India and the world, curated experiences and festive flavours.
The entrance gates at Gates 6 and 12 opened on 11 October, with all other installations opening on 18 October. A Thousand Reflections will be on display through the Diwali season at Jio World Plaza, BKC, Mumbai.
